How to check if a phone number is a sim-based mobile number or a VoIP number?

What is a Sim-based mobile number?

A SIM-based phone number is a telephone number that is issued by telecommunication operators and is associated with a SIM card. We normally utilize a sim-based phone number for day-to-day operations like calling and sending texts. It is issued by carrier companies such as Vodafone, T-Mobile, and others, depending on the country because countries across the globe can have different telecom providers.

What is a VoIP number?

The term VoIP, or Voice Over Internet Protocol, refers to the process of placing a call over the internet. Google Voice is an example of a VoIP service.
A VoIP number is a phone number that operates through the internet rather than through a cell phone tower. VoIP numbers are mostly utilized for business purposes with enterprise needs and productivity in mind. You can use it for your business when you want to keep your business line open for incoming calls. They also come with several advanced capabilities, such as interactive voice response (IVR).

Apart from having many advanced features, VoIP lines are more cost-effective than regular phones. The price per minute of a VoIP call is generally lower than that of a cellular or landline call. This makes it easier for businesses to save money while giving their employees access to reliable communication systems wherever they may be located.

Geographical limitation of a regular phone number

Landline and sim-based mobile numbers are tied to a particular location or country. International calling and roaming charges are usually very high but in the case of a VoIP number, since it works over the internet it has no geographical limitation as such which makes it an ideal choice for businesses.

Note that this service works with most European and USA phone numbers. Make sure to enter the correct country code. If you don’t see any result, then it’s likely that it doesn’t support that particular area or phone number.
